Actually, this can be for any time, but this is a good replacement for that smooth and creamy drink that many people have at this time of year. Some call it “vegan nog”, but I was curious as to what “nog” actually is… so I looked it up and the most popular answer is that “nog” was a British ale. So, this is really nogless as well as eggless 🙂
- 1 cup of cashews, soaked for 30 minutes
- 2 cups water
- 2 bananas (frozen are great for this!
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 dates, soaked or 1 1/2 tablespoons agave (or your favorite sweetener)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Blend all ingredients together until creamy and sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top.
Makes about 4 cups.
I like Your Eggless Nogless Holiday Drink, and and me and my friends liked the Persimmon Nog recently, made with young coconuts.
When I looked it up, a nog was a cap or end plate, what makes sense for what Germans used to have as their egg nog, like something almost all adults and kids would put on top of all.
Persimmon Nog! That sounds fantastic…. What’s in it besides persimmons and young coconut (water or meat?) ?
