Ginger-Turmeric Lemonade

So I’ve been dealing with some things lately. The kind of things that you’re not quite sure why they started or what they’re doing, but you go to the doctor and they tell you you’re fine. Oh, so this is what “fine” feels like … ok.

I’ll talk about this more in time, as it touches on some issues that are very important to me, but in the meantime suffice it to say that everything is fine.  🙂

But while my diet has not been perfection lately, I have been trying to add more things in that will be helpful, particularly things that have anti-inflammatory properties. Things like berries, dark greens, nuts, lots and lots of ginger, and turmeric. Since so many illnesses and chronic diseases begin with inflammation in the body, this is so important.

I’ve had lots of ginger-lemon tea and since we’re having such warm temperatures, I wanted to change things up a bit and one afternoon I made this great lemonade. I never think of myself as much of a lemonade maker, that it’s really hard to get exactly the right ratio of lemon to sweet, but this one came out perfectly, and it has such amazing health benefits to it.

Ginger-Turmeric Lemonade

  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4″ nub of fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric, or a small nub of fresh turmeric root
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup (or substitute agave or coconut sugar)
  • 4 cups water
  • ice (optional)

Add all ingredients to the blender and blend well. If you’re not using a high-speed blender, you may need to chop up the ginger/turmeric and/or strain it at the end.

Makes 4 cups.

  1. Kelli, this sounds like great drink. . I look forward to warmer weather to give it a go. I have been drinking Shots of Lemon, ginger, maple, cayenne mix for warmer version of the same.( a little cold here) Love…JGD!

  2. I’m sorry to hear that you’re not feeling like yourself. Pretty impressive that when the going got tough you literally made lemonade!

    1. Thanks, Rika! Definitely doing better. You’re right, this gingery lemonade is perfect when you get tired of tea 🙂
