Have you ever noticed how many times during the year people have the chance to “start anew”?
Seriously… we have the calendar New Year on January 1 (which is a solar year, based on the length of time it takes for the sun to revolve around the sun); and different cultures and religions have their own New Years at various times, changing dates based on the lunar calendar (Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is in the autumn, and Yugadi, the New Year for part of India, is in the spring). Then we have the seasonal new beginnings ~ Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, heralds longer days to follow; and Spring Equinox, when night and day are of equal length, brings us days that are longer than the night. Of course, we also have birthdays and anniversaries to mark the change of a year. And, really, every day that we wake is a chance to begin again.
But there’s something to that, having a marker that we can use to make a shift to move on a path that we want to take. After all, how many times have we said “I’ll start tomorrow”, but then when tomorrow comes, we find ourselves in the same mindset and we continue on just the same…
Just like a spring cleaning clears up dust and cobwebs, a (temporary) shift in our diet can give us the jumpstart we need to get ourselves on that cleaner diet, or less-processed diet, or having a smoothie every day, or whatever it is we’ve been telling ourselves we’ll do after the holidays and comfort foods of winter. And here is a great way to do it ~
a supported Spring Equinox juice fast!
This is a really fun way to lighten up your diet for 24 hours, and give the body a rest from all the digestive work it does every day. The program gives a full menu & recipes of juices and information to use for the day, an online chat room that will be open the entire time so you can talk & read what others are saying, and more…
And, for those who can’t fast, there will be modifications & additions to the juice menu, plus a lighter full menu for those who need food during the day. I’m one of those who can’t fast for a full day. I can often go 18-20 hours on juice alone, but after that point I get all headachy and…. well, let’s just say that you wouldn’t want to be around me at that point 🙂 … so I’ll be doing the modified juice fast, which will include smoothies and blended soups. Come join us and celebrate Spring by re-energizing ourselves for the lighter days to come!
So fun! I’m like you – fasting and I don’t get along. I can make it maybe like 12 hours before becoming very unpleasant to be around.
Isn’t that the worst? Not fun. But doing a supported “fast” (in whatever variation one does) is great because you know there are people from all over the world doing it with you! So far, we have people from the US, Australia, Sweden, and Germany joining …
Awesome!
I have completed 3-day to a week fast in the past, but it is harder to fast in the winter. I find it easy to fast in the spring/summer.
