Product Review: Jem Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter

I’ve heard of Jem raw nut butters a few times in recent months, but I’d never bought any.  Then, when I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago, I saw a jar in the store and decided to splurge on it. Somehow when I’m on vacation, special treats seem much more reasonable :-).

I didn’t test it out until yesterday, and I wish I had tried it sooner…. it is AMAZING. This is by far the best nut butter I’ve ever tasted. It’s so good that it would be gone in minutes if you get too close to the jar with a spoon.

Jem makes raw nut butters in 4 flavors: Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter, Coconut Cardamom Almond Butter, Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, and Maqui Camu Super Berry Butter, along with 2 raw chocolate bars.

My special purchase was the Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter. It is stoneground and not heated over 118 degrees, and the consistency and flavor are right on. It is soft and drippy, totally smooth and silky. I had some drizzled on an apple, and it tasted like a cinnamon doughnut ~ seriously.

The ingredients are sprouted almonds, cinnamon and red maca, all of which are powerhouses of nutrients and positive benefits. Almonds contain lots of vitamin E, calcium, and phytonutrients that help guard against heart disease. Cinnamon has a beneficial effect on blood sugar, is antibacterial and antiviral, and is also active against candida. Red maca is known to be energizing, helps the body respond to stress, and has hormone-boosting benefits.

This is definitely a purchase I am happy with and will make again ~ I’ll be trying the Coconut Cardamom flavor next!
